Location

Can Picafort is located on the north coast of Mallorca, 60 km north east of Palma. Leaving the airport in Palma, visitors can drive to Can Picafort or rent a taxi. They all operate at the same price, charging around €70 to €75 for the journey to Can Picafort, but be prepared to pay even more. It depends on the time of the journey, how many suitcases you brought with you and the number of passengers. Important information for those who are going on vacation with children - parents should be prepared to take the kids on their knees during the journey because taxis do not carry child seats. If you decide to travel across the island by bus, you should know that the bus ticket costs over 1€ for a person for one way trip and at times buses can be very crowded.

How to spend quality time 

Once upon a time Can Picafort was a small fishing village with not over 200 inhabitants. Today, it is an important tourist centre with almost 9 000 hotel beds. It has a long sandy beach all the way to the Port of Alcudia. The attractive port area is a base for many leisure activities. Can Picafort has the biggest carting track in Mallorka and a big ranch where tourists can ride horses. For those who love water sports, windsurfing would be the best choice. Even the beginners can enjoy it - lessons for the elementary courses are provided. If you like scuba diving or are eager to learn it, there are plenty of companies that organize diving tours and classes for the beginners. Six golf courses are situated around Can Picafort. Different boat trips are also arranged for the tourists.

People who are in love with nature "must" visit the S'Albufera Park. This is where the birds from all over Europe come to nest every year. This natural park is open for visitors and they are provided with all the necessary information at the main entrance to the park.

For those who like history, the best site to visit is the Cemetery of the Phoenicians. This archaeological site is very old and presents burial ground for the people from the Iron Age!

Can Picafort has numerous hotels, bars and restaurants and two night clubs. In the town you can feel a strong German influence. Many of the bars and restaurants target visitors from Germany. They can eat and drink a wide range of authentic German and Scandinavian meals and beers.
